If you are someone who often puts things off, is an over the top planner and always seems to be delaying waiting for 'the right time' then here's a technique to help you shift yourself and take some Action!

Think of a specific thing that you have been putting off... then ask your self these questions and write down your answers so you can check back in to them whenever you need to:

  • ‘What’s the reason why you want to achieve this goal?’
  • ‘What’s going to happen if you don’t?’
  • ‘What’s NOT going to happen if you don’t?’
  • ‘Where will you be in one year if you still do nothing?’
  • ‘Where will you be in 5 years if you still do nothing?’
  • ‘Where will you be if you NEVER take action?’
  • ‘What’s the best thing that will happen if you do act?’
  • ‘What’s the best thing that will happen in the next year if you act now?’
  • ‘How will you see yourself if you don’t act now?’
  •  ‘How will you see yourself if you act now?’
If you can't be bothered answering these questions, that could suggest that the thing you're putting off isn't actually something you really want, or that you have conflicting beliefs around it...
If it's really not that important to you, then you can just drop it. Stop beating yourself up over something that you're not going to do and don't really care that much about anyway.
If it is important to you and you think you might have conflicting beliefs around it, then that's a topic for another day... in between time ask yourself - What would I have to Believe for this to be important enough for me to do today?
